Contents of Good Reports:

Good reports should reflect details that allow for an inspection to be repeated at a later stage should the inspection be necessary for flaw growth monitoring, scheduled ongoing inspections etc. Should a defect be missed (hopefully this won’t happen to you), the inspection can be repeated by another person or yourself in order to determine where a step in the process was incorrect or did not form part of the inspection parameters or was as essential variable that was omitted. The identification of a malfunctioning probe, cable, x-ray tube, yoke, chemical etc. could not occur if some of the pertinent inspection information was omitted form the report thereby hindering the repeatability of the inspection.
